Description of the Institute:
The Institute of Physical Geodesy is organized in two special fields (see at bottom). The main research topics are Physical Geodesy, Astronomical Geodesy, Satellite Geodesy and Inertial Geodesy as well as Geodynamics. For details on the research works it is referred to the respective pages of both of the special fields. Beside the two professors the staff in research and education consists of four scientists (three of them time-limited positions). In addition some scientists in special projects and some scientists with scholarship are also working in the institute's research areas.
Within the lecture course Geodesy and Surveying Engineering at the faculty Civil Engineering and Geodesy the institute is responsible for
the following lecture courses and practical exercises: geodetical application of statistics, mechanical elements in geodesy, adjustment calculations, astronomical and satellite geodesy, physical geodesy. Additionally there are courses for detailed treatment of satellite geodesy and geodynamics.
